Coaches Conference News and Announcements

  • Dallas Cowboy Everson Walls To deliver Keynote Speech at TCSAAL Coaches Conference. His eight years with the Cowboys is filled with accolades and accomplishments. In his rookie year, he broke the single season record with 11 interceptions. He was named to the Pro Bowl team in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1985. In 1981, 1982 and 1985 he led the NFL in interceptions. In 1986, he was the youngest player named to the Cowboys 25th Year Anniversary Team, and in 1987 he was named Cowboy’s Man of the Year. In 1990, Walls continued his career with the New York Giants, where he was the leading pass defender with six interceptions on the Giants’ Super Bowl Team. In 1992, he signed and started with the Cleveland Browns. After retiring from football in 1993, Walls was named to the All Time Cowboy’s Team. He was appointed to the NFL’s All Decade Team for the 1980’s, and in 1998, he was elected to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

  • Dr. Erica Conners to Facilitate a Breakout Session Dr. Conners, a native of Oakland, California is a clinical consultant with a doctorate in psychology as well as an MBA. She holds two Masters Degrees from Columbia University (Industrial Organizational Psychology and Psychology in Education). Dr. Conners has a very diverse working background. In addition, to being a Co-Director of the Athletic Ministry at Allen Temple Baptist Church and working as a County Manager for a non-profit organization that provides employment, education and housing support to former foster care youth ages 18-24, she also has her own youth organization, Tru Elite Performance. She works closely with youth of all ages and young adults in the areas of personal development and successful transitions. She co-wrote and implemented the personal development curriculum for the Mark Aguirre Basketball Academy (MABA) in 2010. She is currently working on establishing a platform to implement personal development and successful transitioning with professional athletes, entertainers and youth to strengthen one’s individual milestone development.

Texas Charter School Coaches Conference

This August, TCSAAL will be hosting the first ever Texas Charter School Coaches Conference in Austin, Texas at the Texas State Capitol. The conference will focus on a wide variety of topics including:

·         Sportsmanship and Character Development

·         Safety

·         Athletic Rule Reviews

·         Academic Competition Information

·         Program Development

·          … and more

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Genesis Worldwide Sports Management who will be providing a Keynote Speaker and lecture as well as a breakout session on Sportsmanship and Character Development.     

This conference will be a valuable experience to your schools extracurricular directors in your athletics and academics as well as any and all of your athletic and academic competition coaches. It will also have benefit to any counselors and faculty that work with students on character development.

TCSAAL hopes all academic and athletic coaches and coordinators will be able to attend and TCSAAL would like to stress the importance and expectation that each TCSAAL participating school sends a representative to the conference.

Conference Fees:

1 Attendee: $100

2 Attendees: $180

Each additional attendee (after first 2): $60 a person
